Knowsley Hall Wedding Pianist | Craig Smith Music
Knowsley Hall Wedding Pianist
Knowsley Hall is one of the North West’s grandest stately home wedding venues with historic, expansive formal rooms set within a private walled estate and surrounded by extensive gardens and parkland. Wedding pianist Craig Smith provides live piano music here for several parts of the wedding day, particularly guests’ arrivals, the ceremony and drinks reception, when the Hall’s magnificent interiors and terrace spaces are perfectly complemented by live piano performed on stunning portable baby grand pianos.
Ceremonies at Knowsley Hall are usually held in the Ballroom, while drinks receptions often take place either in the striking indoor spaces or out on the terrace overlooking the gardens and lake. Those spaces lend themselves beautifully to live piano, whether creating a sense of occasion as guests arrive or providing relaxed music while everyone enjoys the surroundings after the ceremony.
Music can also continue later into the wedding breakfast if couples wish, with the piano positioned in the State Dining Room and guests welcome to make requests. However, many Knowsley Hall couples especially enjoy live piano during the earlier part of the day, when the atmosphere is at its most welcoming and guests have time to appreciate the music while soaking up the grandeur of the venue.

Venue Knowledge & Experience
At Knowsley Hall, careful planning of live music is essential. With such a large venue, moving between spaces during the day can disrupt the flow, so Craig prepares multiple performance setups in advance to ensure the music remains seamless throughout, without long gaps to relocate.
Craig has been visiting Knowsley Hall for several years, providing his portable baby grand pianos in white or gloss black to suit each couple’s décor and the look of this magnificent stately home wedding venue. He has also been invited to perform by the venue for their wedding showcase events.
‘Thank you so much for playing so beautifully at our wedding! It really added a special ambiance to the day and our guests particularly enjoyed making requests!’ - Mr & Mrs Bate, Knowsley Hall, 2024
At Knowsley Hall, Craig is often booked not only as a solo pianist but also alongside his saxophonist or violinist for ceremonies and drinks receptions. This flexibility makes music for the earlier parts of the day particularly popular, beginning as guests arrive in the Main Entrance Hall or Walnut Drawing Room before continuing into the ceremony and on into the drinks reception afterwards.
Pianos can be positioned on the terrace or inside in the Main Entrance Hall or Walnut Drawing Room for arrivals and drinks receptions, while ceremonies are most often held in the Ballroom. The instruments are easily moved between spaces, but in surroundings as grand as Knowsley Hall Craig always recommends a two-piano setup so guests never see pianos being repositioned and the flow of the day remains uninterrupted.
Wedding breakfast music is also available, with the piano positioned in the corner to the left of the State Dining Room entrance. For many couples though, the most popular Knowsley Hall package focuses on arrivals, ceremony and drinks reception, creating a seamless musical atmosphere through the most elegant and romantic part of the day.
