Meols Hall Wedding Pianist

Craig Smith plays his white baby grand piano during a Meols Hall wedding drinks reception

Set within the historic grounds of Meols Hall near Southport, the Tithebarn and Coach House offer a distinctive and atmospheric setting for weddings. The magnificent Tithebarn, dating back several centuries and beautifully restored, is the focal point of the day for many couples, hosting both wedding ceremonies and wedding breakfasts beneath its impressive timber beams. Wedding pianist Craig Smith provides live piano music throughout Meols Hall weddings, helping create a warm and memorable atmosphere for couples and their guests.

While the Tithebarn is the main focus of the day's celebrations, the adjoining Coach House and cobbled courtyard provide relaxed spaces for drinks receptions and evening celebrations. Live piano works beautifully across the venue, from welcoming guests through into the evening.

Music at Meols Hall often begins as guests take their seats in the Tithebarn ahead of the ceremony, although arrivals music can also be provided in the Coach House beforehand. From there the piano can continue with stylish background music for the drinks reception, wedding breakfast and evening turnaround, allowing live music to accompany each stage of the celebration. Experience & Venue Knowledge

Craig has been performing at weddings at Meols Hall for around fifteen years and receives recommendations from the venue team. Over that time he has become very familiar with how celebrations flow between the Tithebarn, the Coach House and the courtyard spaces.

The Tithebarn is typically used for both ceremonies and wedding breakfasts, and its impressive size means careful piano placement is important to ensure the music reaches all guests evenly without excessive volume. Craig normally recommends positioning the piano centrally within the room where possible during the wedding breakfast so every table enjoys a balanced sound. Where table layouts require the piano to sit at one end of the barn, a discreet PA system can be used to help fill the space evenly with music.

The Coach House and cobbled courtyard are popular locations for drinks receptions and evening turnaround celebrations. Although the courtyard itself has sound restrictions, Craig’s piano can be positioned within the stable doorways of the Coach House with the doors open, allowing the music to be enjoyed out in the sunshine.

Having worked regularly at Meols Hall for many years, Craig understands how to adapt the music and piano positioning for each stage of the day, ensuring the sound complements perfectly both the character of the venue and the atmosphere of the celebration.
