Samlesbury Hall Wedding Pianist

Craig Smith plays his white baby grand piano during a Samlesbury Hall wedding drinks reception

Dating back to the 14th century, Samlesbury Hall on the edge of the Ribble Valley is one of the most historic and atmospheric Lancashire wedding venues. Its instantly recognisable black-and-white Tudor façade, centuries-old timber interiors and beautiful grounds create a spectacular setting for weddings throughout the year. Wedding pianist Craig Smith provides live piano music at this local venue for ceremonies, drinks receptions and wedding breakfasts, helping create a memorable atmosphere for couples and their guests.

Live piano suits the character of Samlesbury Hall perfectly. From welcoming guests as they arrive beneath the striking Tudor frontage to elegant ceremony music in the historic chapel or the magnificent Great Hall, the sound of a real piano complements the venue’s rich heritage and sense of occasion. Later in the day the music can continue through the drinks reception and into the wedding breakfast, creating a warm and relaxed atmosphere as celebrations unfold.

Experience & Venue Knowledge

Craig has been performing at Samlesbury Hall weddings for more than twenty years and knows the venue’s layout and spaces well. Over that time he has provided music for ceremonies in both the Great Hall and the chapel, as well as many wedding breakfasts held in the hall itself.

The Great Hall is the centrepiece of most Samlesbury Hall weddings and is home to the venue’s own Bechstein grand piano. When ceremonies take place here, Craig performs on this instrument before resuming for the wedding breakfast later in the day.

For other parts of the celebration Craig can provide his portable baby grand pianos, available in gloss black or white. The black model in particular suits the hall’s Tudor interiors and dark timber features, though many couples choose the white option to match their styling.

For smaller or more intimate spaces such as the Parlour, Craig can also provide his upright-style wooden piano. Music can also be performed outdoors in front of the famous Tudor façade when guests arrive or during drinks receptions in good weather.

Having worked regularly at Samlesbury Hall for over two decades, Craig understands how the different spaces are used throughout the day and positions the piano to suit both the venue and the flow of the wedding.
